March 2023 was marked with successful implementation of the third cycle of project dedicated to teacher training activities in English at the four largest state universities in Serbia.
The project was carried out by the Foundation Tempus in Serbia in cooperation with the University in Belgrade, University of Novi Sad, University of Kragujevac and University of Niš. For the second time in a row the project was supported by the Embassy of the United States of America (USA) in Serbia, while the training was first introduced in 2019 within the initiative Study in Serbia which was supported by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia.
The training program, English as a Medium of Instruction – EMI, was organized for teachers of the Universities of Niš, Novi Sad, Kragujevac and Belgrade with the aim of advancing their language skills in their own field of teaching, as well as mastering the knowledge and the possibilities of applying teaching methodologies and innovative IT tools in classes which are tailored to international ambience in English language. In other words, by completing this course, the participants upgraded their skills to carry out classes in English, which supports the internationalization process of higher education in Serbia. In total 153 participants successfully finished the training.
Special award ceremonies were held in March at the abovementioned state universities where EMI certificates were allocated to participants who had successfully finished the training. The ceremonies were accompanied by the representatives of the management and international relation offices of the universities, representatives of the US Embassy in Belgrade, Foundation Tempus’ representatives, participants and lecturers, as well as other representatives of academic community.
